Environment and economics often harmonise well: The company Balluff in Neuhausen auf den Fildern invested EUR 35,500 in its heating system, saving EUR 37,000 in the first year. 13 companies, which like it, participated in the \u00d6koprofit Club in 2013\/2014, have now been awarded certificates at the Old Townhall in Esslingen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
Who would so much as mention the term \u201clocal agenda\u201d nowadays? While some ideas may be a thing of the past, others have proven to be continuing successes. The \u00d6koprofit project, initiated by the \u201cProtect the Climate\u201d agenda group in 2000 now has more than 80 businesses in the region that have implemented measures to lower their resource use and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by many tons.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
\u201cThis allows you to benefit economically,\u201d Town mayor J\u00fcrgen Zieger stressed when he handing over the certificates. In addition to the long-term members, others have rejoined the project or joined recently as new members. They have contributed much to realise the city and region\u2019s climate strategy.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
\u201cMaking a start is one thing\u201d, said City Official Matthias Berg, \u201cbut sticking with it and turning something into a tradition, that\u2019s something else.\u201d This also relates to the competitiveness of companies. In relation to all our behaviour he had this to say: \u201cNo matter how good a system - it is still useless if you keep opening all the windows.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n
